BLM is greedy, renting land that wild horses could be living on for only 1.50 a head of cow who eat more that horses do. what's more, they wanted to kill off 80,000 horses so only 1 % of the cows in the US could eat more of the grass. Does that sound so "awesome" to you?

Actually cows are better grazers then horses... Cattle only eat the top layer of grass where as horses will eat down to the roots, dig up the ground, until its a dust bowl. 1% if cattle is a lot. We eat cattle, we don't eat horses (thank god). You have to be cruel to be kind...

there is simply nothing more BLM can do. they are trying there best to put wild horses to good homes. they are safer if they are domesticated rather than running around. it is a tough topic to debate because there is really no right way to handle this problem.. i am curious stargo..what would you do to solve the probem??

Yank the the cows, sheep, and others from the plains, and put the horses back. The wild horses that are still there are very well suited to the grasslands.

Without, sheep, cattle etc, we don't eat, we don't eat why can't save injured or dieing animals INCLUDING wild horses. So it would be cruel to the wild horses... Believe it or not, the population of horses in USA are over 5 times more then it use to be. SO without us breaking them and wanting to give them a QUICK death they would, as I said before, die slowly from starvation.. Cruel and heartless death don't you think?

Okies I only had time [that I wanted to spend] to read the first page, and here is what I think.
After the first couple of posts, I was like "Come on guys, wild horses need to stay free!" but after reading the arguments, I was starting to lean towards Mate and Gold's thoughts. No, we can't reverse what we have done but we can help it. All these wild horse's homes are being taken away, if we continue to evolve and develope, we need that land. Even if we gave them all the land in the world, they still wouldn't thrive as they did in the old days. If we take them all in, and give them good homes, they will live long happy lives. I once sponsered a wild horse on a reservation. If the horses are on a reservation with a fence around it, that is fine because they think they are free but they are being taken care of.

The thing is, nobody is right, or wrong for that matter. The only way to solve this is to get our head out of the clouds. We are not better that any animal, in fact, most animals are better than us. They know no desire to enslave a fellow race, nor do they know greed, or any other feeling that makes the humans act like they do. Not every sq. foot of land in the world needs to be in use by humans. If you think about it, all the other animals livening out on the plains would be affected too. Some rare bird could die out if 100,000+ humans started livening there.

No, animals are not better then people. We have compassion (most of us) There are more animals then people you kill for the sake of killing. I have never seen an animal stop and try to help another one with a broken leg. But I have seen tons of people (including myself) Stop as save an animal. Whether it had a broken leg, or was pregnant and dieing. We save wild animals. Animals LET other animals die. Just because there are a few bad people int he world, that shouldn't spoil your view on the human race. You see a few bad animals and that doesn't spoil your view on animals now does it? People save animals and kill animals.. Animals kill animals, end of story... I hate people who say they hate their own race (this doesn't mean you) just because there are a few bad people, sense there are a few bad animals maybe they should hate all animals too!!!

Mate that's a good argument, but I actually have seen an animal... do something about another animal that was hurt. I stepped on an ant once, but it was still alive. Then another ant came and started dragging it towards an ant hill! It was hilarious, but I still wonder if he was helping the ant or wanted to eat him...
Humans are animals. We are animals. And animals don't leave one another to die, have you ever seen the look in a dog's eye when it senses an animal or human in danger? Yeah.

Yeah, the ant dragged his companion back to the ant hill because that is food for the queen... Yes but have you seen a dog see a injured hare and just gorge on it while it is still alive? We are animals, but by genetics we are the smartest animals, pushing ourselves further away from the chain everyday. If dogs were never domesticated, if a human was in trouble, the dog would go eat it. They aren't just hunters, they are also scanvangers... Why do you think prey animals like zebras and buffalo run? To expose the weakest member of the herd so the predator will eat them. Yes there are times where some will stand and fight. But I have also seen (well on the geographical channel) A bull attack another bull while it was being eaten alive by hyenas. That is just nature, but we have pushed ourselves above nature and help MORE animals in need then any other creature on this planet. We are not the bad guys, and we never will be. If we do something wrong we try to fix it, even if it seems inhumane to others. Just remember out terminology of "inhumane" is a lot better the the animals version...

Mate, how can you say we are the smartest animals? I know that our intellegence level doubles every few years, but still. How much pollutants have we put into the air today ALONE? How much has the next fisher cat put into the air? Probably none. Animals always seem to know when a storm is going to hit, we rely on technolegy!
