i had a lesson with my friends horse yesterday that i am considering buying. it was a lot of fun and Annie was awesome! my friend gets nervous on her and so she dosent behave. she was awesome for me and i can wait for my next lesson. i havent takena lesson on my horse in years and it was kind of nerve racking to get back into it, but there is this barn by my house thast has 2hr group lessons for $15..its awesome!
so my question is..do you guys take lessons?

yes! theyre pretty much all i've ever had... i've taken regular lessons at 6 different stables and i think about 5 one-offs at others
some lessons are more beneficial than others, most of the time i'd go to learn and end up just paying to be able to ride. not that there's anything wrong with that! it just defeats the point a bit when you're trying to take it seriously. that's what really frustrated me, because people assume that if you're into horses you'll get your own, so if your "only taking lessons" you dont care about the techincal, serious aspects of horsemanship so a lot of the time you really have to struggle to make any progress

I have taken lessons once so I could a little hep in english, but that was all. Becuase the girl she took me to a show and we were in the same class and told me what not to do at a show and she turned around and did that. So I stopped taking lessons. I been to a couple clinics and everything to learn more and most of it I have learned on my own.
I never takin lessons becuase i new how to ride anyways so I was a natural when I did take the lessons. Because i would jump bareback for about 3 yrs... until i got a saddle. So there we go.

exept lessons are like £20 for an hour in stead of 15$ for 2 lol - although that is shared lesson, me and my sis and my mum sometimes too.

I have lessons once a week, Tuesdays. I don't really enjoy it that much except for when I'm doing something fun or when (like yesterday) the horse has a ton of energy and goes fast... but it is the only horse back riding I'm able to be exposed to, and I'm going to take what I get!

Yeah I took lessons when I first started riding, but my trainer said I was a natural (She never told me to my face) She would just tell my dad after the lesson was over. Now I give lessons, but I will go to my trainer if I ever need help with anything. I am trying to start a riding camp, or just day lessons. We will see if it works.

racechick, where are you from? in the uk you have to be 15 (i think) to do your level 1, and 17 before you can get your level 3. then you've got to do your road safety exam and 500 hours work before you even become an AI
