I have a private lesson every week on my 4 yr old, doing mainly dressage at the moment so she develops the correct way of going and then we can have some fun in the years to come!

That sounds like a good plan, lol! I've only ever had private lessons except for at this camp my old trainer had. We didn't really have lessons though. I wouldn't want a lesson with a bunch of people because the trainer isn't just focused on you. Any one beg to differ?

not at all, private lessons are much more valuable. or maybe i just had better instructors on the my one-off private lessons.... groups can be fun though, you can have jumping compatitions within a lesson and sometimes watching the others really helps you too. but it teaches the horses bad habits, they just follow the one in front

I have never had a group lesson, but having taught people myself i cant imagine being able to focus your complete attention on one person at any time! there would always be too much going on. Private lessons are the way to go!

Right now I've started taking lessons again just so that I can learn how to push my horses buttons better. My instuctor comes to my place and has actually told me that she doesn't need to work on really anything with me, but instead she needs to work with my horse more and me learning how to make him do what I want him to do.
I think lessons are awesome they really help you.
I had lost my confidence after having a number of falls and just having a few lessons has helped me get my confidence back.

Yes, lessons are confidence building if you have the right instructor. Know what I mean? And Cowboysgirl your siggy is hilarious! "I didn't slap you, I high-fived you in the face" "Quick everyone pretend you're normal" Where did you find those?

i have done both private and group... with my budget as it is right now, id go with group if i chose to take a lesson..i still get attention but i'm at the point where i do it to tune up. id rather have the trainer focus on someone who really needs the help. then they can just give me pointers when they have time. private lessons are awesome when your first starting out though!

i have private lessons, 'apparently' im about intermediate level, but the private lessons ar great cos we spend 20 mins out of the hour chatting lol .that wouldn't happen in a group lesson.

No, probably not Lawrence! At my old barn the trainer would talk to my mom the whole time, not even paying attention to me. LOL somehow it worked though, cuz I was raking in blues at the shows!

Mmm. Plus her barn was filled with chickens and it was really dirty. I hear she is cleaning it up (or rather, my mom's friend is cleaning it up for her...) and we might go back to her. I don't know.
