I stray furtherest from SHARK and PETA. Yeah parts of the rodeo is cruel, but so is show jumping, dressage, cross country, polo cross and nearly all horse events... Horses break their legs, break their backs, bones jerked out of place. All events are cruel on animals. This thing with rodeos it shows what goes on at a station (ranch for you Americans) This is what happens to get your meat, this is what happens to break in horses so they are not SHOT and SLAUGHTERED for being born a wild horse. Not arguing, voicing my opinion, objections welcome that is why we are here

Rodeos aren't bad if the people controlling them do their jobs and all rules are followed. Rodeos can be a fun experience for riders, horses, and watchers! For example, horses LOVE barrel racing and stuff!

I see your point. But, most don't. The barrel racing is ok, the horses don't get shocked in the face, to make them bolt out of the shoot, only to have a strap on their flanks pulled tight.

I personally put the flank straps on the horses, saying a flank strap is cruel is like saying a girth is cruel; the flank strap isn't that tight.

flank straps and girths are very different. flank straps are put in a place where a predator would usually grip a horse, so of course the bucking is prompted by making the horse panic. not exactly a pleasurable experience for the horse, i'm sure

Having someone on the back of a horse is where predators would usually go for when they are trying to kill and equine. SO shouldn't riding be cruel then? In any high class equine sport after putting so much money into the horse I doubt if they care if the horse likes the sport or not....

it is, to an extent, the vast majority of horses go through distress when being broken. but the point in breaking is to benefit both sides of the partnership, whereas for broncs they want the horse to be as paniced as possible for human entertainment, with no forseeable benefit to the horse

Yes, that is all true. The government should be taking action in horse sports, ya know? You almost never see anything on TV like, Joe Jimmy won the National Dressage Championship last Thursday riding his new horse, Jake. Horses are never televised except for racing! I hate it!

youve got a point actually, there's going to exploitation whenever animals are used in industry

The other stuff is ok, the horses don't get shocked in the face, to make them bolt out of the shoot, only to have a strap on their flanks pulled tight.

true, barrel racing (i dont know the ins and outs of the events) seem to be far more a partnership between horse and rider. i still have issues with steer wrestling though
