Oh come on Reef, you can't been ashamed of braces. Just because you want to have nice straight teeth doesn't mean you have to hide it. Braces are awesome so many people have or had them. I had them, though I must admit getting stuff caught in them is embarrassing. But still Reef you shouldn't be ashamed of braces, if people make fun of that they are just upset because they can't afford to have perfect straight teeth.

Teeth verging on deformity? Maybe it is bad... well just think about that when you get them off you will look so pretty! Sometimes having braces would be fun I think, like black and orange bands for halloween, red and green for christmas...etc. etc.

Yes, that is true. I guess you have to plan ahead if you want to do something like that, or you are stuck with funk-ay teeth for a while!

I used to be really self concience, but now I look at myself differently and know I'm a pretty girl. I'm really athletic and strong too and have a crush on this guy who likes me back, so thats encouraging too.

I just joined and I started to read these comments. This reminds me of the time when I was sick, and I went to the bathroom right away after dinner. My mother called my dad that weekend and asked my dad to ask me if Frankie[8 year old neighbor who calls me names-rollseyes-] has ever called me really mean names. I said the names he called me."Stupid,Annoying,Retarted,etc." My dad hung up with my mom and my dad asked me if Frankie ever called me 'fat' I said, no. I am not fat anyway.[not bragging] He told me why...My mother thought I was being balemic..Just because I was sick and went to the bathroom after dinner? My mom assumes easily. It's quite rediculous. I don't get it, why worry about being skinny? Be normal, as long as you eat healthy, psht, you will be fine.

parents tend to be over protective... thats going a little far though! she should have trusted you, or at least asked you about it rather than your dad

i had braces a while back. i loved being able to change the colors for holidays. you'll live! =] it was worth it for me.
my mom tries to talk to me about boys, but it is so awkward i just tell her, no thanks. lol. i am practically an adult and she feels she needs to treat me like a child still....which is ok. =]

gold, thanks! i will live, i'll probably look back when i'm 30 and wonder what all the fuss was about! its so embarressing going to work and having little kids going "mummy, what's that on her teeth?" cringe! lol
my mum's the opposite, she acts far more like a child than i do! i tend to just humour her games and tantrums and she talks to me about problems with her sister and stuff... it's quite cute
