I like to get to the point.
What defines evil, anyway?

there are 2 kinds, moral evil is caused by humans like rape and murder and natural evil is caused by the way the world works like disease or tsunamis
and gold, basically it's said that an all-loving, all-powerful and all-knowing God wouldnt humans to suffer is he loved us, had the power to stop it and knew it was happening

lol you can tell i have far too much thinking time! thats what comes from not having your own horses... "not only can i not go riding, i might not even exist!" lol
St Augustine and many others, thought that evil is not a substance in itself but simply a lack of good. and since you can't create a deprivation, god can still retain his traditional character
someone (i need to learn who) thought that evil was not being true to someone/something's intended purpose, so nothing can be truly and entirely evil unless it doesnt exist at all

hm.... Which would you prefer to believe, some woman opened a box and let the evil out OR that a talking serpent told Adam and eve to eat gods apple? For this first post I am going to go with the existence of god. God created the world for us to live the way we choose, its our choose whether the world be good or bad. God gave us to much power, though he might love us he More then likely does not love what we do but it is our choice. Just like your parents, once your out the door they can't do much to stop you from doing what you are going to do. They might love you but certainly not half the things you do. Evil is created by us, the natural order of things isn't evil, its just a way of life. .... Shit happens. disease helps die down the population of the world, without disease we would be like Tokyo over populated and drowning. So i don't believe that disease or tsunamis or anything that is natural is evil. On the other hand.... Scientist are creating ways for us to live longer, but we are not suppose to live longer, when we get terribly ill or elderly etc we die . I personally think (well for this subject of evil) That the scientist that are trying to cure cancer and big brand diseases and ways to live longer are evil; because they are prolonging life when really we are all suppose to die, whether it be early or late..... Though if I was in that situation I more then likely would be saying "FIND A WAY TO FIX ME!!!! so I kind of contradict what I just put down but ME, what ya going to do... That is my version of "evil",

evil is not something we have created, it is the name we give to things which we see as immoral, and morals change thought time, for example we may see torture as immoral, but 5 or 6 hundred years ago it was standard practice. we see rape as immoral, but the bible condones and encourages rape in the old testament in multiple places, morality is dependent on the time, and morals seem to be in the human collective conscience, meaning we all seem to accept the same morals in each of our categories of human social development. i could go on, but bottom line, evil is not fixed, it is dependant on what is morally unacceptable at the given time. and im not going into the arguement about gods existance cos i will probably offend lots of americans and it will take to long

BUT five - six hundred years ago not all people saw torture as a practice, some saw it as immoral..... Once again, in the bible, the bible shows one side of th story not both sides, we have no idea if other people or even half the people back in the bible days saw rape as immoral..... And with the god thing, I believe to live by the GUIDELINES of the bible, just to be a descent human being, I would never say god exists or god doesn't exist for as you said Lawrence is may offend people on here......

lol - i reckong the serpent story is better as a story :-)
but its all besides the point really. evil is here, you cant rid of it you can just hope that you pick ure friends carefully and bring up any family you will have ( or not, whichever ) so they will avoid evil and do what is seen as morally right.
and a side point, regarding the original question the answer is yes i does invalidate the God which is most commonly defined, namely all good and all powerful. but as there is no proof for or against god, it remaisn to be seen, i just think that there is no God based on the high improbability of his existance. its a personal choice in the end whether to believe in the bible or to believe in hard science. i know its not that simple, but thats what i boils down to in the end.
