i heard if you cut a friesian's mane you can't validly register it. how wierd but they do have fabulously luxurious manes, thats so horrible someone would do that!

Huh, that is interesting! Some breeds it is more professional when you show if their manes are short.

i love Fjord's manes, theyre so cute! but youre right, for sporting horses it's best to have them pulled just for safety as much as anything else i guess... showing arabs have their manes hogged part way down the crest to show off the mitbah

My friend bought a 8 month old friesian. now he's a little over three years old and has become the most beautiful horse in the world. this winter we'll start training and riding him. last week we've already sat on his back and it was no problem. he even reacted perfectly to every order we gave him although he doesn't know them yet. so i think it's gonna be easy to train him

There are pluses and minuses to having horses gelded. If you geld them, their lines stop right there. (Unless they have a ton of ungelded full brothers of course!) But if you don't geld them, you can't show them if you are under 18 in the USA! It drives me NUTS!

I love friesians they are sooooo beautiful, in some of the pics that I have of Flacko he looks like a friesian. I now this friesian named Toby and he is a dressage horses, well they didn't train him right for it and his neck was "Up side down" which means that the top of his neck is floppy and the bottom is all tight. I want to steal him sooooo bad!!!

I know 2 friesians, they are very different! one is very very cobby and the other is really fine and "lanky", at what age should they be fully matured?
Back to certain breeds manes being trimmed for showing, Welsh breeds should have mane about 4-6 inches long so as to show off their necks, although you are supposed to show them au natural not many people..especially pro showers do!
