Well, I've been riding for almost 10 years... I wouldn't call myself "just starting out" though I am just starting out at a new barn... but yeah I know, I wouldn't get one.

it depends if you work at stables, or just take lessons, because green horses are generally harder to handle not under saddle too. i know i'd like a more experienced horse for my first, just because i wouldnt like the responsibility of having to bring on a green horse properly

Yeah. I wouldn't mind if my first horse wasn't trained to ride, because I'll most likely just do ground work no matter how trained my horses are! I love leading them around and grooming them and petting them...
